Meet the Owners:
In 1997, Mr. Kennedy arrived in Toronto from the beautiful twin-island nation of Trinidad and Tobago with a dream—not just of owning a business, but of building something he could be proud of and that could become part of the community he now called home.
That dream became a reality in the summer of 1997 with the birth of Right Value Furniture Inc.
Coming to Canada with the business experience, determination, and entrepreneurial spirit he had developed through previous businesses in Trinidad, Mr. Kennedy knew that building a successful business would take more than hard work. It would take relationships, trust, and a genuine commitment to the people around him.
From the very beginning, community has been at the heart of Right Value Furniture.
Alongside his wife, Mrs. Judy, Mr. Kennedy has built a store that has become much more than a place to buy furniture. Over the years, it has become a place where people know they are welcome. If you have ever visited the store, you may have seen neighbours and longtime customers stopping in—not only to shop, but to ask for advice, inquire about employment, support another local business, share what is happening in their lives, or simply stop by for a friendly conversation.
For Mr Kennedy and everyone at Right Value Furniture, those relationships are just as meaningful as the business itself.
They have spent decades supporting local businesses, providing employment opportunities, offering guidance, and being there for members of their community whenever they can. Many of the people who walked through the doors as customers over the years have become friends, and some have remained part of the Right Value family for generations.
As the years have passed, Right Value Furniture Inc. has grown and evolved with the changing times and the changing needs of its customers. But despite all the changes, the values that started the business in 1997 have remained the same: work hard, treat people with respect, be honest, help where you can, and always remember the community that helped you build your dream.
For Mr. Kennedy Right Value Furniture has never been simply about selling furniture. It is a story about taking a dream from one small island and building a life and a business in Canada. It is a story about family, perseverance, friendship, and community.
And after all these years, that same community-first spirit continues to be at the heart of Right Value Furniture.
About the Business:
Right Value Furniture Inc. began in 1997 as a small storefront serving the local Toronto community. What started as a modest family business has grown over nearly three decades into a trusted furniture destination for customers across the Greater Toronto Area and beyond.
As Toronto and the surrounding communities grew and families began moving to neighbouring cities, so did the community we were privileged to serve. Today, our customers come from communities across Ontario, including Ajax, Pickering, Kitchener, Kingston, St. Catharines, Barrie, and many others.
For nearly 30 years, we have had the privilege of being part of our customers' lives and homes. What makes us especially proud is knowing that we have served three generations of families—from grandparents furnishing their first homes, to their children, and now their grandchildren.
Through all these years of growth and change, our commitment has remained the same: to provide quality furniture, honest service, and a welcoming experience for every customer who walks through our doors.
We are incredibly grateful to the families and communities who have supported us throughout the years. Right Value Furniture is more than a business—it is a family-owned business built on relationships, trust, and a community that has become part of our own family.
